The MegaSun by KBL determines the individual
skin type by carrying out measurements and by
evaluating answers to a questionnaire. On the basis of
this data, the system draws up a tanning schedule that
is adapted to the client’s individual situation. This
tanning plan can then be printed out or displayed on
the screen..
Skin moisture
A healthy
skin
contains
natural
moisture
(moisture
in the horny layer of the epidermis). Tanning sessions
reduce the moisture content of the skin. Therefore, the
skin moisture represents an essential factor to
determine the individual tanning time. The moisture
sensor is used to measure the skin moisture at four
places on the face. The system then calculates an
average value.
Melanin content
Melanin is the skin
pigment that
protects the nuclei
of the skin cells.
Consequently, the
melanin content is
the respective
concentration of this pigment in a person’s skin. The melanin
sensor attached to the device is also used to carry out
measurements at four places on the body; in this case, the
values are measured at two places on the face and at two
places on the arms. Each individual measurement must be
carried out four times. This means that the final value given in
the evaluation later on has been calculated on the basis of 16 individual measurement values.
